The Feast Day of St. Joseph held on Saturday March 19, 2016
The celebration began with Fr. Raphael blessing the many traditional Italian dishes such as breads in shapes of a staff, a hand, a cross, animals, St. Joseph finger and dessert cookies embellished with almonds. The parishioners enjoyed the foods as well as the camaraderie. At the end of the eve- ning, blue plastic bags were filled with the left over blessed bread and distributed to the parishioners.
The Shape Note/Sacred Harp Singing that was held in the Parish Hall on Feb. 27th, 2016 was an extraordinary event. We had about 60 people, a wonderful pot-luck lunch, and sung 88 hymns all together. People came from six states with one thing in common, a love of Sacred Harp, an old-fashioned musical tradition which traces back to the American colonies and even earlier.
Another event is planned for next February.
In attendance was artist James Gurney, who made the portrait of the singing and a video about the above process: See Video below and plan on joining us next year!

A number of local churches and municipalities host Food Pantries or offer meals to people in need. If, during this Jubilee Year of Mercy, you hear the call to serve the poor in our midst more deliberately, any of these organizations would gladly accept your donations of non-perishable food items. Some are also looking for volunteers. Given the huge geography of our parish family, we are including opportunities that may be closer than you thought.
Visit our Year of Mercy section for a complete list of organizations along with our weekly reflections on the Works of Mercy.
Since 2010, this annual community fund-raiser has donated over $8400 dollars to local charities in the Shandaken area.
Don't miss this opportunity to have fun while helping
out those in need!
Hope to see you there!
