This letter to the Philippians is one of the loveliest letters that Paul wrote. The community at Philippi seems to be a favorite one and Paul writes to them with great joy and longing to be with them. This letter is a very intimately personal one, filled with affection and happiness. Here Paul is not responding to questions sent to him from the Philippians but is writing to express his gratitude and joy. Also contained in this letter is the famous Christological hymn where Paul describes Christ as emptying himself to be one with us, a high point in his theology. “Rejoice” is repeated over and over. Come and join us for a lively discussion of this letter! After the 10:00 am Mass in the Rectory.
